Selwyn Village | Pari-one-taka: Fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness for all
A key aspect of our commitment to excellence in resident services is ensuring that our physical environments match our high standards of care and support.
Over 2024/25, we completed the major $21 million re-façading and enhancement of Lichfield Towers as well as significant renovations at Sarah Selwyn care home. We progressed Stage Two of our broader transformation programme which included upgrades to apartment buildings, rental villas, roading and footpaths and to the village's general community areas. An exciting kitchen upgrade was also completed at our on-site dementia day centre, Lavender Cottage.
As has been our practice for many years, when refurbishing our interiors, we donate all internal fixtures and fittings to The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity for re-distribution within the wider community.

To add interest and vibrancy around the vacant site of our former Kerridge care home (while future development planning is underway), bespoke hoarding has been erected around the perimeter. In an exciting co-design project with residents and the Selwyn Village team, it is intended that this structure will also be a colourful exhibition space that will provide a platform for shared storytelling with creative input from across the village, the Point Chevalier community and from mana whenua.
This innovative art concept staging takes the theme, ‘Ka Mua, Ka Muri/Looking to the past to guide our future’, referencing our celebration of the past, present and future. In the implementation, we are continuing our design partnership with Carin Wilson, whose expertise in artisan craft will ensure that the resulting exhibition space will create a bright and inviting environment for all to enjoy.
